Game Notes from Official Sources/Press
As always, the sources can be found at the bottom. Notes that pertain to tonights game or are hype af will be bolded.
- **Stephen Curry has a career scoring average of 25.7 points against Charlotte, his second-highest scoring average against any single opponent in his career. **
- Stephen Curry is the son of Hornets broadcaster and former Charlotte Hornet Dell Curry … Curry attended Davidson College located in Davidson, North Carolina … Hornets G Marvin Williams, F Tyler Hansbrough, G P.J. Hairston and Warriors F James Michael McAdoo and F Harrison Barnes all attended North Carolina
- After starting 0-2 in October, Charlotte bounced back to put up a stellar November logging a 10-5 record in the month. The 10-win month marked the first time the Hornets have had a 10-win stretch in November in franchise history and the 14th time the team has done so in any month. Their 10 wins in the month tied for the third most wins in the Eastern Conference and their 8-2 overall record at home is tied for the second most wins at home in the Eastern Conference this season.
- The Warriors are currently 1-0 on their season-long seven-game road trip... Since 2014-15, Golden State has had a record of .500 or better on 13 of its last 17 road trips of at least three games.
- Golden State has extended the NBA record for the best start to a season, beginning the 2015-16 campaign with a 19-0 ledger, surpassing the mark previously held by the 1948-49 Washington Capitols and 1993-94 Houston Rockets (15-0).
- The Warriors are the third team in NBA history to win 23 consecutive regular-season games (four-straight to end 2014-15, 19-straight to begin 2015-16), trailing only the 1971-72 Lakers (33-straight) and 2012-13 Heat (27) for the longest win streak in NBA history.
- Golden State is the 10th team in NBA history to win 28-straight regular-season games at home.
- The Warriors are the only team across the four major professional sports leagues to win 16 consecutive games in back-to-back seasons.
- Since 2014-15, the Warriors are 37-13 (.740) in regular-season road games and 44-16 (.733) including the postseason.
- The Warriors are 10-0 at home to start the season, the franchise’s best home start since posting a 10-0 mark in 1980-81.
- Golden State is off to its best road start in franchise history with an 9-0 record away from home.
- Dating back to the 2014-15 campaign, the Warriors are 49-0 when holding the opposition to fewer than 100 points in the regular season (9-0 this season).
- The Warriors have scored 100-plus points in each of their last 45 regular-season home games, which is the longest streak by any club since the Nuggets’ streak of 47-straight from 2/1/90-2/23/91.
- Golden State’s 23-point comeback on 11/19 at the Clippers is the largest in the NBA this season.
- Golden State leads the NBA in points per game (115.3), field goal percentage (.491), assists per game (29.4), threes per game (13.2), three-point percentage (.431), point differential (+15.3), fast break points (21.2) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.82).
- The Warriors also lead the NBA in Offensive Rating (113.7), which measures the points scored by a team per 100 possessions, and Net Rating (16.8), which is the difference between Offensive and Defensive Rating.
- The Warriors have dished out at least 30 assists in 10 games this season, a league-high.
##My analysis
- Batum is much better than he was in Portland. Watch out for him.
GUEST ANALYSIS
Thanks to u/CockADoodleBOOM for the post in r/warriors! Check out his full spiel here.
- With the additions of Nic Batum, Jeremy Lin, and Frank Kaminsky in the offseason, the Buzz have morphed into a running-and-gunning machine that takes a shit-ton more threes (12th in 3FGA, 11th in 3FG%) than last season.
- The defense has been... shaky.
- Without Lin, our starting lineup will probably be something along the lines of Kemba-PJ Hairston-Batum-Marvin Williams-Cody Zeller.
- In the 4th quarter, Kemba-Lamb-Batum-Williams-Zeller will likely be Charlotte’s go-to lineup.
- STAR PLAYER: Kemba Walker (34.4 MPG, 18.4 PPG, 5.0 APG, 46.3% FG)- Kemba has taken his game to a different level this season. Because the Hornets brought in new scoring options in the offseason, he’s been able to better conserve his energy over the course of games and unleash all hell during 4th quarters (see his performance in the overtime victory over Sacramento has a reference). He’s still a high-volume guy (14.2 FGA per game), but he’s been so much more efficient this season (39.7% 3FG, 6% better than his career high). Look for the Buzz to put the ball in his hands early and often.
- STAR PLAYER: Nic Batum (35.2 MPG, 16.8 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 4.5 APG)- The trade for Batum was seen as an incredibly risky one by most of the league, but it seems like the Frenchman is right at home in Charlotte. Batum is probably our player who is the most dangerous when he catches fire; if he makes a couple threes (40.2% 3FG), he’ll start taking (and making) them from almost anywhere. So far, he’s seen wild success from handoff plays and coming off screens, either pulling up for mostly open 3s or slashing to the hoop for easier attempts. When he’s on the floor, Batum is either our number one or number two defender, and he’s alright at that. He plays interchangeably between SG and SF, creating some interesting lineups for the Hornets.
