[Guide+Spreadsheet] Earning token for filthy casuals!
This thread will teach you how to earn gold for your game time tokens with simple methods. I'll try to describe every aspect that you need to know. You will buy your token and have a plenty of time to play with your friends!
What is required?
- One/Two 650+ ilvl character/s,
- Inn 2+lvl and Scavenger yard,
- (Optional) Garrsion level 3,
- (Optional) Tailoring and Enchanting 450+ level.
What are the methods?
There are 3 main methods: a) Garrison (daily), b) Cataclysm raids (weekly), c) Kazzak (weekly).
There are 2 optional methods : a) LFRs/RDFs, b) Bastion of Twilight farming.
Garrison - It will become your daily routine. First of all you need to gather your treasure hunters army. Every thursday you need to log in and recruit treasure hunter. I HIGHLY recommend you to get Harrison Jones ASAP, it takes 6 days, try custom group finder to visit other players garrisons to find Jones and take his daily. Trait priority for hunters: 1.Massive Strike 2.Wild Aggression 3.Danger Zones 4.Minion Swarms 5.Powerful Spell 6.Timed Battle 7.Deadly Minions 8.Magic Debuff 9.Group Damage Also log in 2 times a day, send followers to missions, gather herbs and ores, bank them and sell them later at AH. Remeber to open crates from SYard and to do your daily professsion orders, they give you a little boost of gold once in a while.
Cataclysm raids - It's my favourite part of token farming. Every week try to find time to do all cataclysm raids: Bastion of Twilight - Quick and easy raid, also perfect place for farming (I'll describe it later). Average 1,300 gold. Dragon Soul - Script heavy raid. I stop doing it at 6th encounter, Blackwing takes too long for me. Average 1,550 gold. Baradin Hold - Only available when your faction controls Tol Barad. Average 500 gold. *Firelands - Mecca of cataclysm raiders, I think it's one of the most satisfying raid. At spider you need to use ranged mechanics and at Shannox you need to use tank spec or pet to counter his summon stunlock. Average 1,750 gold. Blackwing Descent - With 660+ ilvl this raid is very easy, the only thing you need to remeber is to speak with goblin in cage behind one of the sleepy bosses to counter insta-kill mechanic. Average 1,350 gold. Throne of the Four Winds - I find it very hard to do with casters, but for melees it's piece of pie. Average 450 gold. After doing all raids you should have ~7,000 gold, it's raw gold, you can vendor it. I did not count greens and embersilks, because I was mailing it to my ench/tailor character to make embersilk bags. So theoretically you can earn ~11,000 gold per week with auctioning mats and BOEs. I will link spreadsheet with my gold results from cata raids.
Supreme Lord Kazzak - Every week log in and kill Kazzak on each of your character. Why? Because it's easy average 900 gold in felblights and it gives you opportunity to gear up your character.
Other two methods are fillers in between your weekly instances lock: LFRs/RDFs - LFRs give 154 gold per wing, multiply it by 12. You can ~2,000 gold on LFRs per week and 69 gold per day from 1st RDF. So it's ~10,000 gold per month.
Bastion of Twilight farm - Enter instance pull first room and 1 group of thrash in coridor next to it, kill it, loot it, exit instance, restart it and go in again. You can do 10 restarts per hour, with Cloth Scavenging perk from tailoring you can gather ~1,000 embersilk clothes per hour, disenchanting allows to gather ~40 hypnotic dusts per hour and from vendoring rest you can earn average 400 gold. To make embersilk bag you need 75 embersilk clothes and 15 hypnotic dusts, at my AH it sells for ~150 gold each. So you can earn 300 gold in bags, but you're left with a LOTS of clothes, so you can optimize this process by making cata tailoring items and disenchanting it later. Also you can try to auction BOEs epics.
What addons do you recommend to earn gold with?
Bagnon - It compiles all of your small bags into one big. TSM - This one has many functions, but I mainly use it to check prices of items and to disenchant items. Auctionator - It posts your goods on AH with actual price. SavedInstances - It allows to manage your locks, supports alts.
How long did you farm for your token?
These methods won't make you a millionaire, but they are not that much time consuming, you only have to do garrison routine and sacrifice one day for raiding, you will have a lots of time to play the game itself. I've started with ~5,000 gold on 22th November and today (2th December) I bought a token (61,500 gold) and I'm left with 12,000 gold. You have to remember that I have 4 characters which 3 of them are my gold making guys and paladin is only for garrison/felblight money.
