Donations for Homeless

Where should I take 'em?

I collected coats and winter gear after seeing a post where someone said they're short on winter coats for men at City Union Mission. I don't know anything about homeless shelters and such in KC, so I thought ok, this sounds good.

Well, we went to take these jackets today, and found that CU Mission had close to $3 MILLION in excess revenue at the end of last year, and their website says to drop off stuff at their thrift stores. This wasn't exactly what we were hoping for.

I'd love to find a place where we can give the items out directly or know that they will be directly offered to people. Not inventoried, not receipted donations, and not to drive revenue that will sit on the books. Any advice out there, KC?
