Looking for help/advise on recording audio on videocamera... halp!
Total audio/video noob here - looking for help..
At work we are videoing short 3 minute product demonstrations to upload to our website. Using a small handheld cannon on a tripod. Awesome webman at work MacGuyvered a "grip" made of a handheld mic attached to one of those lighbulb grabber extenders to hold it up above the presenter to record the audio.
That is just not working. For one, it's mono and not stereo or something like that and two, makes a buzzing sound. Tried recording with that only, with that and the camera and with the camera only - not working. And when I say not working what I mean is the quality is just not cutting it. Audio is working just sounds sucky, well, not as good as it could be and as we would like for it to be.
So here's my question - I figured the best bet would to style out our presenter in Tony Robbins fashion with an over the ear mic thingamabob so I jumped on Amazon and found what seems to be a good one at a reasonable price but it looks like there is more that I need that I have no clue about in what to get and how to connect it all together - a wireless body pack transmitter or something like that ? How would one go about connecting all that stuff to the camcorder? Is it even possible?
We tried a lapel mic but it was too rustly sounding as the product demos require a lot of movement.
Anyone know how to do this? If so, would really appreciate some guidance on what equipment is needed and how to get it all working. If not, does anyone have any suggestions on alternatives? Also, if there is a more appropriate sub to submit this to please let me know.
Thanks for reading and for any assistance you can offer!
