How are newcomers supposed to get certain weapons?

Hello! Im relatively new to the game and picked up the premium for 20$ last week, This isnt my first battlefield so Ive been doing what I can to obtain the weapons unlocked through ribbons and whatnot.

It seems like the community has found its home(pc) with maps and gamemodes and most maps that have interactions for weapons(the unica handgun in this point) have no servers for the map, or have abandoned servers nobodys plays on

Here's what happens when I search for sunken dragon being played, with all filters off besides the map http://imgur.com/FH4NDZp

So what am I or others new to the game supposed to do in these situations? Buying "shortcuts" really isnt an option either.
