Risks of getting my frenulum pierced over other oral piercings?

Heavily considering getting this done but what's stopping me is that there seems to be a lot of cons to this procedure. What i'd like to know the most is how easy it is for this to get infected, and if it's manageable to care for without having to consult a doctor. If you are a piercer or have your smiley done and can share your experience/knowledge that would be great!
