[Question] PS4 Causes network outage when wired to broadband router.

I'm having a problem with my PS4: When wired to the router, it causes the internet to go out. I've even tried a USB Ethernet connection. Same problem. Got the provider to send me a new router. Same problem.

When wireless to the router, the internet doesn't go out.

Ive tried searching Google but haven't come up with an solution other than using wireless- which is noticeably worse. So I'd really like to get the wired connection working.

One thing I did notice. Before the bump to "12 Mbps" I didn't have any problems provider wise. It was at 6 Mbps down previously. The tech that came out said that the 12 Mbps was causing an issue and bumped be back down to 6, fixing the issue. But as anyone that has the internet knows - faster is better. Especially when you have a wife that watches Netflix, and children using the wireless.

Edit: The problem happened this morning when the Playstation was connected wirelessly. I'm going to contact the service provider and have them bump me back down to 6 Mbps. Just for a day. It'll crop up itself easily within a day's time of 3 hours of gameplay.

ToDo:

  • Check ISP Router settings.
  • See if it's possible to throttle the bandwidth PS4 side, on the router.
  • Buy a new router, connect that as a middle-man between the PS4 and the ISP router.

Edit: I went ahead and bought an Asus N600 router. It's on it's way. By way of making sure the ISP router just needs to forward traffic, it may help it live long and prosper. The Asus router has a lot of QoS that I hope to utilitize that may just help.
