Bard as new main?

Hey guys, I'm a mostly support/jungle player and I was wondering if Bard could be a next main for me this season? What are the pros and cons according to you guys? Asking because I'm not sure wether I should spend the IP, he is still quite expensive!

Thanks in advance, sorry for the bad formatting (on phone).
