Has anyone ever tried exposure therapy to increase their tolerance to gluten?
After some time being GF I found that I can tolerate small amounts. I've decided to try to raise my tolerance with the goal of not having to be so fearful of foods that others take for granted.
I've started with crunch bars, the small ones that are given to kids for halloween. The crispy rice has a small amount of malt in it. I take a very small bite, about 1/5 of the small candy and that's it for the day.
I hope to slowly increase the amount I can eat without problems and not have to be afraid of cross contamination with wheat. Maybe later on I can work towards being able to eat wheat in stuff like burritos and pasta without trouble if possible, but one thing at a time.
Has anyone else had any success with anything like this or know of anything like this?
edit. I want to be able to eat food from the taco trucks that abound in my area again.
edit. I don't have confirmed celiac disease. Granted when I took the blood test my GI doctor knew so little about it that he never told me that I would have to be eating gluten before the test for any antibodies to show up.
