Local housing charity only takes 'families with kids'
Edit: Thanks all. Someone suggested I give location, It's Oklahoma.
So long rant/story/whatever. My parents, who are pensioners, need a temporary place to live as we are out thousands from a devastating mite infestation. If you don't know how bad it is, google something along the lines of family flees bird mites or something like that. That's not us but it causes thousands in losses and unless you sell your house you usually won't rid of them so we've lost our place to live and I stay temporarily in a bedroom at my boyfriend's families house.
Anyway, I called the local community in our state for housing ( I think called mission norman or something like that) and as soon as I explain my parents don't have a place and I am worried for them ( my mom has a life threatening health condition set off by stress and believe me, this is hell) the woman goes, 'sorry, but we only take families with kids.' I seriously rolled my fucking eyes at that. Seriously. So because my parents are retired they don't matter? Look, I understand kids are vulnerable, but so are older people.
They DO fucking matter. Then again our backassward state doesn't do shit for anyone. I've had to gather a gofundme for my parents and pray to the damn heavens for them to somehow get a place. My mom is bitten up so bad she looks like she has chicken pox or something.
No kids for me. EVER. Even if I get a social advantage. Sigh. Thanks for letting me rant my ass off about this. And as far as suggestions go, if you suggest it, we've probably tried it.
