MCAT study planning?

Hey guys! So I am a sophomore now. I plan on taking the MCAT next winter.

However, this summer, I am staying on campus, (I live far from my university), to continue research, volunteering and take a class or two.

My question is, would it be worth it to take an MCAT course here, and start studying seriously over the summer? Obviously it won't hurt me, but I am afraid I will forget/lose my touch if I take my MCAT class a few months before I write the exam.

I won't be able to hardcore study during next gal during the school year, because I am already stretched thin as it it with research, Div1 athletics, and keeping my grades up..
