Week 13 Wide Receiver Rankings - Based on Consistency, Performance, Match-Up and Trend
I wasn't planning on doing these weekly, but I already did all the work so whatever. Also these rankings have been pretty damn solid so far. I would love to be able to compare them to FantasyPros ECR, but I don't know of a solid method in comparing them and can't find week 12 ECR anywhere. What I've really found to be accurate is the SOS for each week. So the SOS bottom 20 rankings (46-66) for the season averaged 8.9 fantasy pts. Week 12 that bottom 20 averaged 9.5 pts. So that's slightly better than their average and not good, but that's not the point. The top 20 SOS (1-20) for the season averaged 8.8 fantasy pts. Week 12 they produced an average of 13.17 points. IMO, that's a pretty significant difference. Obviously SOS is important factor in performance, but it's nice to see it actualize.
Here's a link to my week 12 rankings and their actual ranks.
I gave Dez and Amendola a performance of 0 because I don't have enough data to calculate a fair performance for their new rolls. Dez I maybe could, but I'll give him another week.
Adjusted CV is the coefficient of variation (standard deviation of fantasy points each game divided by the players average FPs) - 20% of player FPts/Game to weight the CV in favor of higher scoring players.
Performance is the players average points scored above how WR1s perform vs that defense. For WR2, it's vs WR2s. So week 1 Julio scored 26.1 pts against Philadelphia. So far this year WR1s vs Philadelphia average 16.4 pts (worst WR1 D). So Julio's performance was 26.1 - 16.4 = 9.7 pts. I did that across the rest of the season and averaged it out and that's their performance. I would like to subtract Julio's stats from that average I compare it too, but that would be too time consuming right now.
SOS is opponent WR1 and WR2 average and then subtracted how these WR1s and WR2s have done against them. So let's say Arizona week 1 faced NO. WR1 is Brandin Cooks. Brandin Cooks got 5.3 FPts against the Cardinals. Brandin Cooks averages 10.7 FPts a game. 10.7 - 5.3 and you get 5.4 Pts. Do that across the rest of the season and that's the results. This for their week 13 opponent.
Trend is the forecast function of Excel. So I take a players fantasy points for a player each week and divide that by their average up until that week. Then I run the forecast function for week 13 and that's Trend.
Week 13 is all the factors combined.
