serving JS/CSS files, Nginx

hello,

I have little servering experience and need help with this problem. I have turn off debugging mode in my PHP application hosted with Nginx. After doing this it looks like my static files (JS/CSS) are not working. I remember when setting up a Django application on pythonanywhere.com I had to set some variables in the user control panel that were paths to the static directories in the application. I feel that this is something I have to set on my Nginx server hosting the PHP application.

I have no documentation for the PHP application and it was something outsourced and I can not get the documention. All I know is that in the config file there is a variable for switching on or off debug mode, so I switched it off and a have this static files issue. It doesnt look like there is anywhere in the application config to set the static file paths so im thinking maybe I have to set this in Nginx somehow.

does anyone know what could be the issue here and how it might be sorted?
