A small victory...still a little nervous but I feel calm...

Let me start off by saying, I didn't get sick. But I was eating lunch in the staff lounge and I saw someone walk into the office and he didn't seem in a rush or anything...but he went into the bathroom. All of a sudden, myself and a few other co-workers who were also eating lunch heard...something and we were all giving each other looks and someone said, "ew...is someone getting sick in there?"

I saw the guy who walked out and he didn't look perturbed or anything, he always kind of has a fast pace when walking.

When I first heard the sounds, I was very nerve wrecked...I mean I was literally putting food in my mouth as it happened.

But, I was able to talk it down in my head and finish my lunch.

Basically, the guy was not in there very long. He was in there for maybe 1-2 minutes, a normal time to be using the restroom. If he was sick, I feel like he may be in there longer. He would have probably looked worse...(although I admit, I didn't see him that closely).

I even told myself, even if he was sick, you're going to be fine. Yes, you heard him. Yes, he was close enough to BE heard. But from where I was sitting, there was a wall, a hallway and then the bathroom with a door, and I assume, in the bathroom, a stall. I didn't ingest any particles of his.

Also, it may not have been him getting sick. He's an older fellow (not too old, but he does have grandchildren)...and sometimes when people cough loudly, or violently, it could sound like someone being sick.

The ONLY thing I worry now is that if he WAS sick, if he may have contaminated it for other male staff members who go in there...and then they'll get sick and before you know it, an epidemic hits...but good news! The end of the day is near and all bathrooms get cleaned every night by the night janitors. So hopefully...it'll be okay.

But then I remind myself, how many public restrooms do I go in where I have NO idea what goes on in there? I mean, I do avoid public restrooms and only go when I absolutely have to.

Surprisingly, I'm calm. Surprisingly, I'm not that worried...so if he WAS sick and I heard him and I'm not worried about getting sick from him, I feel like I have reached a big milestone. Before, when I would even just HEAR someone was sick, I'd freak out even if they were in a completely different building, etc...so I'm kinda proud of myself. It's the little things!
