Auto-switching Doesn't Work (Always Stuck on One Carrier)

Hello Friends. Do any of you have the issue where you get stuck on ONE network and never see it switch? For me, I get stuck on TMOBILE despite there being a much stronger signal present. I can go 10 mins with 0 signal and it won't switch. I have spent many hours pouring over the Tycho debug logs and I have been working with Support.

I would ask two things of you if you have this issue.

The last rep I spoke to told me she heard rumors of this issue but it's only going to get enough attention if people speak up! By the way, it's my conclusion that the Dialer codes have a very adverse affect. I can factory reset and have great service, lots of switching. The moment I use any of the dialer codes, I am permanently stuck on T-MO until I do a Factory reset.

I pulled the following from the Google Groups post. This is a small subset of things I have tried

  • Powering Off
  • Removing SIM
  • Powering On
  • Wiping Data for Fi App
  • Wiping Data for SprintDM App
  • Powering Off
  • Start into recovery, wipe cache partition
  • Re-insert SIM
  • Re-activate the SIM at the request of Project Fi App
  • I see it try Sprint for a few seconds (according to the Fi-Spy app) and then go right back to T-Mobile FOREVER
  • Yes, the FI SPR code will force it to Sprint for about 3 hours...it works fine in this mode
  • FI AUTO and FI XME don't seem to help

UPDATE This appears to be working for some folks. Try it out!

  • Dialer Code: ##FIXME## [Let this Finish]
  • Go into launcher, drag Project Fi app to info Icon at top
  • Disable Project Fi App [This will downgrade to system image version of Fi]
  • Re-enable Project Fi App
  • Reboot the Phone
  • Go through Fi Activation
  • Click notification to do Full activation
  • Once this is totally finished, allow the Fi App to update
