WD Green - Does the "sleeping" damage the drive?

Hello.

I have a WD-Green which was a leftover at work. I was planning to use this as a disc for recordings, but due thediscs inactivity it turns off after a minute or so, and needs to spin up again when it's supposed to be used again.

So I wonder, does this turning on and off-thingy damage the drive? If there exist a way to disable this, would that be more "healthy", or doesn't these disc last long if they spin all the time?

Update: I swapped the green with a black, so I guess it's solved for me.
