Help with dealing with Microsoft support and fixing my xbox one

Hi guys. I don't really care if this gets upvoted or not, I just genuinely need help.

I got one of those first gen xbox ones with the faulty disc drive, and it hasnt really been a huge problem until recently when I bought a bunch of games on black friday. I thought my console only had problems with Blu Rays, as DVDs and some games seemed to work fine, but now it seems to have gotten worse.

Since my warranty is up basically my options now are to either pay for a repair, or buy a new xbox one. Anyone have any luck getting one of these repairs for free after their warranty expired?

I've been trying my best to reason with support but they're more than willing to be unhelpful. The manager I spoke to there didn't even know what the red ring of death was.

Any trade in deals would help a lot too. Thanks!
