Questions about gun purchasing laws.

I looked in the FAQ and got conflicting reports looking online so I've come here to ask. Downvote me if you want, I'm just looking to get these questions answered.

I am living in Tennessee but am from a different state but haven't changed my tags or license yet.

1. I know private sales are legal in TN but is it legal for a friend to sell me a hand gun if I do not have a TN license yet? Could I get into trouble with possessing a gun in TN when I don't have the drivers license?

2. Do I need a TN license to buy ammunition for a handgun in the state?
