Help! Phone not even doing a factory reset after it broke?

My phone randomly started restarting and got stuck in a loop of showing the startup screen then asking me to enter my password. I would enter my password, and then it would show the startup animation again. This happened for a couple of hours so I tried to reboot it in recovery mode. Same thing happened. Eventually I decided to factory reset it, so I held down the power button and volume down button, held down the power button and pressed the volume up button, selected "wipe/factory reset". Nothing. Some text went past on the screen but then I was given the options again. So again, I selected to wipe and factory reset. Same thing happened. I tried about 4 times but all that would happen was I would select factory reset, some text would happen at the bottom of the screen, then I'd get shown the options again. My phone won't even do a factory reset. I was playing on a game as it crashed and this whole ordeal began, so maybe it was that? Maybe my phone is somehow bricked? But I wasn't doing anything with the insides of the phone, I haven't rooted it or anything. Just using the phone as a regular ol' user. Pls help :(
