Did I make a dumb mistake buying these jeans?

I'm real new to actually giving a shit about how I look, and I finally bought a pair of slim black jeans. I bought them from Target, their brand Mossimo Supply Co. They look great and fit amazing (never actually had slim jeans before, just these shitty ass baggy jeans). However I did some quick research after buying them and it turns out black jeans fade easily and lose their color, especially if they're low-quality. I don't know how good Mossimo Supply Co clothes are, but the pair of jeans were 25$ so I'm a bit worried. On another note, should I wash them? Also read that apparently black jeans fade in the washer. If not, how should I keep them from smelling like ass?
