[DISCUSSION] What could be a good instrument to learn with the intention of mainly playing Hip-Hop instrumentals?

I know it's a bit of a broad question, but after listening to albums like TPAB and tracks like Everybody Loves the Sun, I suddenly had an interest in getting into learning an instrument which would be popular in the hip-hop genre.

I've thought about things like keyboard/some sort of brass/drums but I'd love to know what you guys think would be a good idea to get into for a complete beginner to instruments.

I have family that play guitar, so I don't think I'd be interested in also playing the same as them.
