Scheduled transactions vs manually entered transactions?

Ok guys, I am very new at YNAM and still trying to understand the software and the mindset. I am a little confused though, because when I enter a scheduled transaction(e.g. rent), it does not appear in my next months budget (January). But when I enter that same rent payment for the exact same date, it appears in my next months budget. Which is better? I like the idea of my rent budget showing for next month now, but I also don't want to have to enter my rent payment manually every month. Any ideas?
