What to do about this pipe in attic?

Hi, I'm trying to air seal and then insulate my attic, and am concerned about this area: Imgur Around that pipe (which I guess is for the bathroom plumbing) some mold is clearly visible. However, I have a flat roof and don't think that I can get very close to the area of that pipe. What can I do to investigate this further myself?
