Makes sense. After all, Kotaku is a site about "TV shows and snacks".
No that's GameSpot.
So who wants to apply.
I'm going to apply. Let's see what happens.
RIP EnigmaMachinen
the goony beard got him
Gotta infiltrate.
Good luck...
God speed fellow Leader.
Spreading the misogyny from within ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Spreading it like butter. Mmmmm. And I'll get to see Tortilla every day!
I would, but my life is happier knowing full well I don't work there.
a sabbatical after four years
Or after Hogan sues us into oblivion, whichever comes first.
This is a full time position at Gawker Media's NYC Headquarters with full benefits, including everything from unlimited time off with a sabbatical after four years and fully paid medical insurance, to lunch and breakfast once a week.
Breakfast and lunch once a week!? Holy shit, sign me up! Of course I will make life-altering career decisions based on a $20/week perk!
Ah, yeah, you beat me to it.
No wonder they go on and on about privilege.
If that's the "norm" for them, and they assume their readership has similar perks... well. It's like we're all speaking different languages.
I'd spew nonsense for medical insurance at this point
Thanks Obama

Any Gaters looking for a job? All gaters fitting that description should apply. Change is easiest from the inside, and hey if you get fired for trying to actually do journalism instead of fulfilling some arbitrary quota of click bait and meaningless third wave outrage then you have the makings for an insider expose book which will net you money, and be a horrific torpedo to gawker at the same time.
The listing is for their local New York office which means on site interview. A Gater would have to wear an SJW disguise to make it past this screening. Ironic beard, dyed hair, and a retro suit. It will be like a Mission Impossible episode.
That all makes the eventual book better.
On one hand I agree completely -- infiltrate the infiltrators. On the other, what would you be able to from the inside that's actually meaningful?
Better journalism (i.e. any journalsim) and try to change the culture towards that. Wouldn't happen overnight, but you would be surprised what adding one oerson who truely cares to a team of feckless loosers can do in the long run if the individual can maintain their attitude and goals and not be corrupted by theirs.
EDIT: a common theme on KIA is that SJWs have infested something and destroyed it from the inside - surely the same tactic can be employed in reverse. Anything that can be made can be unmade and vise versa.
In principle, I agree. In practice...well, keep in mind, unlike the things SJWs have infiltrated, Kotaku isn't neutral. That makes progress vastly harder.
Inexperience preferred.
Clearly they need an editor. They can't even proofread a help wanted ad.
I don't think that was an error.
Oh boy, I bet you could earn a whole penny if Denton doesn't declare you an unpaid intern!
i'm curious as to what constitutes "expert". like, since someone has spent $500 and 1000 hours on candy crush, does that make them a gaming expert?
Ok, I raised this concern about Milo editing for Tech. People brought it to my attention that being a good editor does not require you to be an expert. So I am hoping such thought bears out when it applies to a foe as it would a friend.
Gotta be fair, a editor is not required to have expertise to edit stuff, he isnt the one writing it.
Wow! If you snag this job, you're allowed to eat breakfast and lunch once a week!

I am Mnemosyne, goddess of memory. I remember so you don't have to.
I'm having an idea!!!
Gather all the shitlords here, then proceed to apply for the job!! Using names like Vivian James or Gilda Mars!!
Then when they ask for skills/details, talk about your love of ethics.
Operation: out of the basement.
You are probably putting a lot more effort into this than Kotaku ever did for their articles.
If you have thick skin... this is the job for you.
These people have the furthest thing from 'thick skin'.
Inexperience preferred.
Um........... What. Inexperience preferred? Like, you do know that inexperience is having little knowledge or experience of a particular thing, right?
Just be glad it didn't say "Disdain for gaming is prefered but not required"
It's more important that you can coordinate the efforts of a team of writers
This is why we get articles where they send a dude that doesnt like the game and they end up writing about how they doesnt understand the game.

Woah, hold on there tiger "Expertise" Not experience. That means you can or you don't have to be good at video games. Expertise would require you to be at least gold in lol or equivalent. YOu could have been playing video games your entire life and not be an expert at it. Lets not go bending their words to make them look worse than they already are.
Err so they hire people who don't give a shit about video games? Sorry but Kotaku is a gaming "news" (more like hit piece / clickbait) site, being a gamer should be required not preferred.
Eh, to be fair, it's an editing position, not a writing one.
As long as your writers are honest you shouldn't have to fact che-
Oh... wait...
Good luck with no gaming experience.
Eh, Milo's picked up on it pretty quickly.
But he gave a gaming a shot. Hell he even made one. He went from mocking gamers to indie game dev in a year.
Don't editors do things like decide on review scores and whether or not a gaming article is credible enough to be published?
For the former, I would think that's be job of the reviewer.
For the latter, I would presume so.
