IDViking Alberta Review (AB)

Won this in one of viking's many giveaways, a review is only due respect.

Vendor: IDViking. Generous guy, gives out tons of freebies all day long, I happened to snag one

Communication: After about a month, I shot him an email checking on the status of the ID- replied within a day, with a helpful response and an update on it, good guy.

Pricing: Free. Though I believe his standard pricing is $150 (too much to pay for a PVC ID that's missing many security features) though IDViking advertises this as a budget version of Alberta, and not advertised as being able to pass against a real one. If you were to acquire this through one of his frequent promos It wouldn't be too bad of a deal, considering it is a rare find.

Shipping Speed: I believe in total it took around a month to get to my doorstep, but he does ship from international and it was a freebie so I'm assuming it was not his top priority. No complaints here

Stealth Not domestic, simple, but does the job. Not gonna pass parents

ID Quality

Template: I'm thousands of miles from Alberta, nor have I ever seen an Alberta DL so I'm going to keep my subjective opinions to myself. Though I can say everything's printed quite crisp, no bleeding ink or major flaws noticeable. Back does seem slightly too pixelated though I'm gonna hold my tongue on that.

Photoshop: Very nice. The ear shadows were left in, (thank you), looks nice. Black and white - contrast looks like it could be upped slightly, no complaints though.

Micro: Decent faux micro. Instead of pixelated faux-micro its more along the lines of blurry micro... could work in favor in some circumstances.

Holos This [Kinogram?] im gonna call it? Dept. of Vehicles seal- silver, very in your face, pretty cool security feature to have, it is the correct seal.

Material PVC. Should be Polycarb but this id is not intended to accurately replicate all the features of an Alberta DL.

UV: ALBERTA ALBERTA repeating in red/purple on the bottom and top. Slightly blurry/dull UV but it is definitely there.

Scanning: A couple scanning issues. Height scans wrong, some dates scan wrong, but this was free and is a collectors piece so I'm not asking for any reprints. IDViking is known to give out reprints even for freebies so I'm formally denying one here- I'm perfectly happy with what I have now!

Usability: Likely wont use it anytime, definitely a cool piece to have, would likely work most lenient places in the US.

Things to Note Many security features are missing, but IDViking advertises this piece as a budget replica, not an instate/province ID. Missing: Raised text, Laser engraving, Polycarb, ect. Issue date discrepancy: This ID says it was issued before my 21st birthday. Quality control for a freebie I'm going to assume is lower, not complaining.

Final Thoughts:

Vendor: I had little to no contact with him. didn't wanna bug him, knew they were gonna come, and they did. IDViking is a good guy, reliable, pretty decent product.

Product: Great product, appreciate the freebie. Should be fine for out United States use, not going to comment on Canada. Good budget ID if you can snag one during a promo, definitely a cool piece to have in the collection.
