Motivational Monday: The intermediary stage of figuring things out

Feeling lost, in limbo, or unmotivated and restless at the same time can open me to a lot of anxiety and frustration. I notice this especially as finals and the end of the year approach.

But, truthfully, it’s okay to be in that intermediary stage of figuring things out. Setting off on a personal journey doesn’t have to happen right away. In fact, exploring what where you want to go or be could be important preparation for your journey, if not become a big part of the journey itself. Not having clear answers to all that at the get-go is natural.

Don’t feel pressured to identify your life goal, per se. Asking yourself how you want to feel this week—or even today—could help clear out the fog on your course a little.

If you feel lost, overwhelmed by the choices, or suffocated by the lack thereof, take a deep breath, and look around. You’re still trying to figure things out, and that’s wise and responsible. Like when you take a trip, tracing out the course may be hard, but once you overcome the initial lack of momentum, all you will have to do is take your first step to be on your way. As always, keep strong. (:
