SOBRIETY CHIPS AND MEDALLIONS (how it works)
/r/sexAA is a fellowship of both men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from sex addiction. On this sub we recognize sobriety milestones with virtual chips and medallions. It is our experience that while these tokens do not keep us sober, they can be quite useful in keeping us honest and marking our progress.
Different colors constitute a range of time that a person has been sober. If you need help in defining sobriety please refer to "The Three Circles."
Here are the chips that we offer.
WHITE CHIP
The first chip we offer is the WHITE CHIP or the "Surrender Chip." This is the only chip that you do not have to earn. We offer the WHITE CHIP for two reasons. 1) For those who are new to the program and for who the pain of the pain has become greater than the pain of change. 2) This chip is also offered to those who have been in the program and have relapsed or slipped and want to rededicate themselves to a life of recovery.
RED CHIP
The RED CHIP represents 30 days and 30 nights of continuous sobriety.
YELLOW CHIP
The YELLOW CHIP represents 60 days and 60 nights of continuous sobriety.
GREEN CHIP
The GREEN CHIP represents 90 days and 90 nights of continuous sobriety.
BLUE CHIP
The BLUE CHIP represents 6 months of continuous sobriety.
PURPLE CHIP
The PURPLE CHIP represents 9 months of continuous sobriety.
1 YEAR (AND 1+ YEARS) MEDALLION
The 1 Year Medallion represents 1 continuous year of sobriety. We celebrate each year, eg: 1 Year Medallion, 2 Year Medallion, 3 Year Medallion, etc...
