Note that these are only really useful if you want to play the old games for nostalgia reasons. If you want to play Falcon today you should play Falcon BMS, a freeware update of Falcon 4.0.

Or if you want to legally play BMS. You'll correct me if I am wrong, but as stated in the FAQ you still need a copy of Falcon 4.0 to use BMS. They even suggest you buy it from GoG or a boxed copy off Ebay.

Technically BMS just checks for a copy of falcon4.exe when it installs. Falcon BMS is 100% standalone and the Falcon 4.0 requirement is a CYA measure.
I think it's still useful to direct potential new players towards BMS, whether they obtain falcon4.exe through digital distribution or another means. BMS is far more popular with up to date tutorials and active multiplayer.

Agreed it's useful to point new players to BMS. I disagree with telling them to skip picking up Falcon 4.0 though, as BMS lists it as a requirement.

I did not know this legendary flight sim series had come to digital distribution. The discount is not that great, but considering how expensive boxed copies are, even the full retail price of this release is pretty exciting!

for old games gog.com is always better, wait for sale on this site

Yet they still don't have all the Falcon 3 manuals even after offering to send mine there to be scanned (they would need to pick up shipping but refused).

It's on GOG since last October, with 4.79€ in winter sale.
Ah man, I missed that. :(
