No dungeons or raids and heavily penalized PK system...

So what do i do? especially once leveled? I am still trying to learn about the game but sounds like there is no end game PvE and that they dont want me roaming around engaging in PvP what am I missing?

With the Valancia II patch there are actually a lot of PvE content that most of people could not even catch up to. Open world dungeons that can 2-3 shot well geared man, Karan Boss, jail and additional new spots in desert. Desert high profit trading and resource gathering in the danger of bandits(Black water=oil?). But of course if you are talking about EU/NA version these content may come in a year after release. EU/NA will come without media patch so there will be very less endgame pve content other than sandbox stuff(trading, fishing, worker etc.). I assume it will be very oriented around Siege wars and GvG PvP.

Oh interesting so they are not releasing the full game in NA?

No KR gets first updates since this game developed in KR then everything ports to other versions. Devs said EU/NA will follow KR from 8-9 Months behind.

RageSkylar•

Pretty sure they said 5-6 months at most

The devs have to localize it, that means translate, and add/remove certain bugs, game breaking, P2w features and they also have to make sure they advertise it aswell. ^^ ohh and they add more polish to it. So when NA/EU gets it it's perfect and has alot more content.

I dont fully remember what the statement was but in KR media region released around may 2015 so they are already 7-8 months back

There is no endgame because there really isn't an end to the game. You keep levelling beyond level 50 just at a much slower pace. There are repeatable daily quests, you will want to continue to expand your trade routes, add workers to your workforce, enchant your gear to the highest level, add gems to your gear, summon and fight boss mobs, guild quests, build up your guildhall, join others fighting open world bosses, PvP...declare war on other guilds, PvP..sieges wars.... or stay in town and build ships and furnishings and go fishing, become a horse breeder.... its a Sandbox MMO you carve out your own endgame. Why do we expect every MMO to have a WoW like endgame, MMO's existed long before WoW popularized the concept of the WoW endgame.

It's not so much that people expect a "WoW-like" endgame (though I'm sure some ppl want that), it's more that people want to have an end-goal to aim for, something to strive towards or to max out that isn't necessarily player/guild domination (which, realistically, is impossible/improbable).

The elder game features for Guilds actually sounds quite well thought out.

Guild missions: Guild missions are accepted from the guild management window. These quests are timed, and you have a limited selection. To initiate a quest you will pay an upfront fee, and if you complete the quest before the time runs out your guild bank will receive additional silver. Guild missions also give your guild experience that allows it to level up and learn new skills. You are limited to 5 guild quests per day, and the available guild quests are listed for the entire server, this means that you will need to monitor the guild quests if you want to participate in the better one.

Guild Wars - PVP: Your guild can declare war on another guild via the guild management window. This will allow you to kill the other guild without suffering karma loss. However guild wars cost silver from your guild bank. The price of declaring a guild war is one million silver, and if the receiving guild does not also declare you will have to pay an additional three hundred thousand silver ever two hours. If the war is mutual, as in both guild declare, there will be no ongoing cost, but keep in mind you can only have four declarations at a time.

Siege Claims: Guilds can participate in sieges to claim nodes and regions. Owning nodes will offer minor benefits, and you can claim up to ten nodes. Owning a region provides a large amount of silver, including a portion of the auction house revenue. A guild cannot own both nodes and regions, this is a preventive measure to ensure all guilds, both large and small have access to siege content.

Continued Progrestion: As your guild levels you will receive skill points, these can be spent to unlock guild skills. Guild skills offer a wide variety of bonuses such as additional damage, accuracy, improved exp gain and more. For your guild members to receive these buffs they must have an active contract.

Whether it's well thought out or not isn't the issue at hand. All of the things you listed are things that are constant, and don't have a realistic end to aim for or something to max out.

The Game is trying to be a Sandbox not a theme park. Your Aim is whatever you want it to be. If you want to be a property mogul and entrepreneur you can do that, buy up every shop in the game and amass a fortune by having dozens of workers building goods for you, or you can become the leader of a conquest driven guild and go to war with other guilds fighting to take control of player keeps, or you can go tame and train wild horses, train them up to max level and sell them off or bead them …..and since there is no hard cap you can do all of the above while continuing to add to your own power. Your Aim is what you chose to make it instead of the game leading you by the nose to the final ride in the theme park and saying …”here go to this last ride in the theme park and repeat it over and over for trinkets until new content comes out that makes all your trinkets obsolete” then do it all again…LOL. A sandbox game instead invites you to live in it and you get to choose what your role and Aims are in it.

Never played wow. Just seemed like if you weren't in a big guild warring there wasn't a much in terms of hard challenges for pvp or pve late in game. It's not about an "end" it's about having something competitive and challenging at near high level.

If your looking for a more individual or solo elder game the new Bounty Hunter system their talking about for the implementing for the NA servers sounds interesting. You could become a Player Killer -Killer and hunt down other players that have had karma Bounties placed on their heads from Pking other players. I think there will be lots to do in elder game for a focused small to mid sized guild.

It's been my experience playing on the JP servers is there are a ton of very deep systems in the game for the players to take advantage of in elder game. There is quite allot of questing in the game as you level but it feels to me the quests are there more to teach you the game and show off the world, but in the elder game its become more of a sandbox .... sort of ... “here I've shown you all the toys, now go build your own sandcastle now.”

Its a pvp based game, but they want you to do pvp with a purpose rather than ganking people at half health (though personally I prefer no PK penalty as well).

The pvp is about capturing territory and fighting enemy guilds. As far as I'm aware, the death penalties in both of those are far far less stringent, if there is one beyond equipment damage

I prefer PVP with a purpose, rather than anarchy with PKers killing freely for no reason. Currently though, outside of Guild vs Guild stuff, there is no reason to PvP. I hope they can find a way to make PKing have a purpose in the game, rather than just for griefing.

TheProfessional9•

Agreed!

1
User---NameOP•

the purpose is competitive. I kill you before you can kill me so I progress and you dont. That is PvP.

-5
dark_xeno•

How does killing me help you progress? That's the problem is that in this game, it doesn't.

2
User---NameOP•

Your dead so your not progressing but I'm still alive moving forward. Advantage me. I miss old days of daoc there's not much left of cut throat pvp community I guess

1
User---NameOP•

I havent seen anything about capturing territory I saw your guild could declare War to allow open PvP with other guild but it costs money and they can stop it at anytime and has no territory control or any type of "winning"

0†
allein8•

There is "winning" but depends on what you want to win.

BDO seems like a circular game.

Earn silver to support wars and upgrade gear, fight over nodes/territory, win/lose, repeat.

Not hugely different than farming a dungeon for .0002% boot drop to get it all, buy an expansion and do it all over again.

PVP wise, it isn't an open build/destroy type game so there are restrictions in place to make it some what "fair" and friendly to keep the 98% of non top players from running off after they lose.

Brodington•

....territories go vulnerable to be sieged and claimed 3 times a week. Endgame is all about war and capturing nodes and territories. Details are on their website and wiki.

2
TheProfessional9•

Node and Region sieges are what I'm referring to. You don't control territory in the way that you do in say Eve Online where other players are at extreme risk by venturing into your claimed land. But, the nodes or region you control provide steady income and other benefits that other players will want. Sieges occur 3 days a week and sound like they can take a substantial amount of time
