What would a Trump presidency be like?

How would he choose his cabinet? What kind of judges would he nominate? What would his foreign policy look like? What would be his major legislation?

Honestly I think a President Trump wouldn't be too bad. He acts like he does, but it's just acting. A persona. He's actually a moderate as far as I know.

As far as I know

That's the problem, so far all we can really tell is that he is conservative on building up the military and his tax code and a couple of other issues like guns. We have no other information to suggest he isn't a liberal just running under the GOP nameplate. But we can't say he's moderate when he only has his mind made up on like 5 topics.

I'm basing my opinion on Trump's previous statements. Granted they could be invalid at this point.

Even if Trump's a moderate at heart, he's been happy to pander to racists, bigots, and idiots. Why do you think that pandering will stop once he's in office?

I'm not sure, but I know that Cruz is way to the right of Trump. Most of the candidates for the GOP are. Trump's insane proposals are, sadly, not that far off from what others have suggested.

It would be tremendous, it really would be. First class all the way. Wonderful people would fill the cabinet, including women and the blacks. The very best of the best. It'll be better than anything you've ever seen before.

It would be HUGE. But its really anyone's guess, he has maybe 5 real policy positions we know and that's it

He could, given the precedent set by Lincoln, in theory suspend Habeas Corpus and declare an emergency. The Habeas Corpus Suspension Act, of 1863, gives the power to do so. Then arrest every Illegal immigrant, bypassing congress in the process.

The same as it always been.

Presidential elects become different people after their first foreign policy and domestic policy briefing....

Dangerous if he rams through some of his economic ideas. Raising taxes and creating new tariffs...very misguided and foolish stuff.

Basically he would come in, he would take America, and he would make it great again.

These are the kinds of questions a primary and a general election are designed to try to answer. I was never likely to vote Trump anyway - I'm a solid blue Democrat - but, even amongst his supporters, the fact that no one can really answer these questions should give everyone pause as to whether he's a good choice.

I mean, for (almost) every other candidate, you can make some informed guesses based on their voting history, or public statements, or the positions they've taken up in the debates. But Trump's a blank slate; pick a position on most issues, and he's probably advocated for it at some point.

My fear is that he, like George W. Bush, will embarrass our country internationally and further distance us from our allies.

Conversely, I thought Obama would be able to reverse the damage done by Bush... and have been pretty underwhelmed at the progress.

The system would grind to a halt for a long while. Maybe people would realize the implications of corporate buying of the political system and look hard into term limits and limitation of buying power for elections from corporations and super PACs.

It will be the best shit storm in politics in decades.
