I solved my Strava sync issue. Here's how I did it.
Own a Microsoft Band 1. The problem is that when you create an account using Strava, a lot of people just sign up with Facebook and don't create an actual password for Strava. Whenever I tried to connect Microsoft Health with Strava, I would log in with Strava using my Facebook account and it would say "Oops...something went wrong..." and nothing would ever sync.
The solution is to create an actual password for your account instead of logging into Strava via Facebook. The way you do this is log out of strava, hit "Forgot your password" and reset your password through your email. Now that you have an actual password for Strava, go to your Strava account settings, go down to "My Apps" and revoke Microsoft Health's access. Log out of Strava after you do this.
Now go back to Microsoft Health and try reconnecting Strava. You will be taken to the strava login screen. Don't log in with Facebook. Instead, use the email and password box to log in. Now syncing will work perfectly between to two services.
Please note that Strava syncing is still very innacurate with distance per this issue:
u/devbent has been notified and just says that their Band team is aware of the distance inaccuracy issue. The Strava team knows it's an issue to per the forum thread linked above. Don't know when that will be fixed...
In the meantime, you can fix this problem by exporting the GPX/TCX of your run from Strava, deleting the activity, and reuploading the GPX/TCX file. It's a hassle.
EDIT 2/18: It seems that Strava has deleted the year long thread that pointed out the distance inaccuracies when syncing with the Microsoft Band. Here is a cached version of the issue conversation via Google:
Actively destroying exposure of this issue doesn't really give me high hopes that this will ever be fixed... :(
EDIT 2/23: Original issue thread is back!
