Symbiotes and their "weaknesses"

Explanation

People on WWW tend to seriously underestimate Marvel's symbiotes (a group of aliens that can bond with humans and often tussle with Spider-Man, for the uninformed.) One of the reasons for this is their known weakness to sonics and heat. Many people seem to consider flame generation or sound powers an insta-win against Venom or Carnage, but that simply isn't the case.

Situation 1: "[Character] carries sonic grenades around with them, they stomp Carnage 10/10!

This simply isn't the case. Carnage has literally tanked blasts to the face from sonic weaponry. Venom also recovers extremely quickly from sonic attacks. At worst, sonics cause the symbiotes to retract and pull away from the noise. It does not actually harm them, they just dislike it. They are still far more resistant than a normal human to sound based attacks, just not as resistant as they are to other attack types.

Situation 2: "[Character] could just set Venom on fire GG no re."

Fire is the other main "weakness" of the symbiotes, but once again it isn't really super effective against them. Being surrounded by a roaring inferno didn't stop Carnage from casually disemboweling Deadpool, and Venom easily defeated the Human Torch. Heck, Carnage stated he straight up does not care about fire.

Overall, the symbiotes' "weaknesses" are a bit like Superman's "weakness" to magic. They are still far more resistant to them than a normal human, just less resistant to them then they are to other types of attacks.

On a side note: would you consider Anti-Venom a symbiote? I'm still not sure on this...
