Bottom part, the creature in silhouette.

OP, I think it's Kalos expansion rather than gen VII. After all, we did only get like 70 new Pokemon in Gen VI.

LumbotOPlemme borrow zekrom pls•

I really hope it could be. I know, atleast in my opinion, making B2W2 the way they did was an amazing change and really added more life to that generation. If the next step in changing the formula is 2 batches of pokemon a generation then I am sold. I mean like I also hinted at in the OP, it seems a bit early for 7 with the Z buildup the franchise has taken so your idea is a more reasonable explanation.

9
papa_smurphy•

No, not gonna happen. There wont be an expansion of the Gen, that would literally break the definition of a generation and compatability between XY and Z. Thats why the mythical Pokemon are all in X and Y. This is just our first peak at gen 7, and if you think its too early, then go back and look at other gens. This isnt the first time, and it certainly wont be the last.

-2
Tuoko•

It wouldn't really break the definition of a Generation if all they added was 20~30 new species. A Generation isn't just new species.

1
papa_smurphy•

Yes, it would. A Generation by definiton includes the introduction of new Pokemon. The only reason this notion exists is because people werent satisfied with the number of Pokemon in gen 6. Well guess what: we got 72 new Pokemon, 50+ mega evolutions, plus your basic number of new formes and stuff. Thats it. Thats Gen 6.

2
LumbotOPlemme borrow zekrom pls•

It absolutely is the the first time its been done this early. And as for the mythical thing, not all the pokemon data was in XY as we learned in ORAS. The compatibility also isnt an issue as we also learned in ORAS and even B2W2 for that matter.

1
papa_smurphy•

All the data was in X and Y. I'm talking about new Pokemon, not new forms. Forms dont count towards the National Dex, new Pokemon do. Volcanion being in X and Y and Magiana not is the only proof needed that Magiana is Gen 7.

1
JSRen•

This is honestly a theory i've been having for a long time now and it totally could be true.

2
papa_smurphy•

No, it cant. Generations dont introduce new Pokemon in the middle, that would completely ruin compatability.

-3
JSRen•

Theres this thing called patching...

Stop being so close minded on this possibility. You keep just saying "NO" in like every comment that even suggests it.

2
papa_smurphy•

If they didnt patch new megas into X and Y, they wouldnt patch new Pokemon either. Its not a thing that happens. I'm saying "no" in every comment that suggests it because the idea is so absurd, i dont get why all these people believe it. Its not gonna happen. The only reason people think it could happen is for the selfish reason of "there's not enough Pokemon in Gen 6, so we have to be getting more." And thats just not true.

-4
Mewtles•

Oh right, cause XY and ORAS are 100% compatible and have no incompatibility issues whatsoever. They can very easily add new mons mid gen. I'm not saying it's likely, but it is certainly possible.

1
papa_smurphy•

There's a large difference between forme changes and brand new Pokemon. There have always been new forme changes that arent compatabile, which is ok because new formes are optional, and a good selling point for new games. But making brand new Pokemon locked behind a game in the same Gen would not work. And besides, that breaks the definition of Generation.

-2
gbanshee•

You know, each generation there's always this person that denies every possibility of changes in Pokemon. When there were rumours of a new Fairy type, there were people saying it's impossible, because the type chart is balanced and it would be pointless to add a new type after 3 generations. When there were rumours and leaks about mega evolutions, there were people who said that it's impossible, because it would turn Pokemon into Digimon. Whenever there are rumours, hints and theories of an upcoming generation remake, there are people who claim it's impossible, because whatever.

Try to be more open minded. Whenever fans predict something happening based on previous generations, it turns out not happening. Pokemon Gray anyone? Look how that turned out xD We already have ruined compatibility between X/Y and OR/AS (I, for example, consider Mega evolutions as separate Pokemon and the fact that X/Y lacks the mega evolutions of OR/AS is an argument for inclusion of new pokemon in Z or whatever they will be called)

1
papa_smurphy•

All the things you mentioned before are new mechanics, which are always a poasibility. Megas dont have separate National Dex numbers, and therefore dont count as new Pokemon. Diancie, Hoopa, and Volcanion are in X and Y for a reason. Any Pokemon past number 721 will be the start of Gen VII. I'm plenty open minded to new concepts and ideas in Pokemon. I was super hype for Fairy type and Megas. But this whole Gen 6.5 nonsense is only a theory because of selfishness and people being unsatisfied with 72 new Pokemon. And thats another key difference between that any everything you said before. There is absolutely nothing hinting at more new Pokemon in this gen, and theres no reason for it either. Volcanion is the last Gen 6 mon, has been since X and Y, and that wont change in Z.

1
EpicalaxyMaster•

Not a bad idea, but I don't think we'd get too many new pokemon. Gen 5 only got a few more legendaries and new forms in B2W2.

2
NesMeister123The cuddliest FREAKING thing ever•

Or something like Johto :/

1
papa_smurphy•

I'm expecting Gen VII to be like a Johto for Kalos, but definitely not Z.

0
Holly164•

I hope that if they do that, they patch X/Y/OR/AS to allow the new Pokemon. I know it's just wishful thinking, since they didn't patch X/Y for the OR/AS megas and moves, but it would be really weird to have actual new species of Pokemon exist in a generation that can't be traded to other games in that generation.

I don't know what else they could do with Z, either. Ever since Gen 3, the third version has added the ability to catch Pokemon that couldn't previously be obtained without transferring from a previous generation. Between X/Y and OR/AS, all regular Pokemon and legendaries are available, and with the 2016 mythical distributions we'll have virtually everything. The only things missing are Zygarde's new forms and Volcanion, and Deerling/Sawsbuck's other seasonal forms.

1
papa_smurphy•

You think wrong. The whole notion of Gen 6.5 is utter nonsense, and has 0% chance of happening. This is just our first peek at Gen VII, like Zoroark, Munchlax, Togepi, etc. Kalos' "small" number of Pokemon is made up for by the 50 (+ however many new ones we get in Z) mega evolutions.

-2
mahvelfan•

I read that soo wrong. "Brennan has a mangina! Brennan has a mangina!"

It kinda reminds me of Leavanny

If Levanny and Mega Gardevoir had a love child.

3

^This.

1
SlothBirdBeard•

Gardevanny?

1
LionOhDayLion's Pride•

I have never been so wrong :C

I feel like this is Jiggly puff from a birds eye view.

1
SlothBirdBeard•

Haha, true.

I'm honestly a bit disappointed with the actual design compared to what I had pictured. I had a Lilligant vibe but it turns out to be a hoarde of Klinklang gang raping a Diancie.

1
Vewen 4184-2148-8148•

Maybe we will finally get our gen 6 pixie, with 6x 100 stat points.

5
JSRen•

Isn't Diancie or Hoopa the Pixie Pokemon of 6th Gen?

3
GIRATINAGXBrendan | 1306-7112-1093•

Yeah, but Diancie's stats are not all 100s like Mew or Celebi.

2
JSRen•

Even with Mega Evolution?

1
GIRATINAGXBrendan | 1306-7112-1093•

Yeah. Diancie's stats with mega evolution is 50/160/110/160/110/110

2
TheMuonFOR THE SOLAR EMPIRE•

Well then it's not even 600 BST anymore.

2
JoeS151Dubstep Dracula•

I'm still angry Hoopa-C isn't a 100 x6 stat distribution.

2
papa_smurphy•

That chance of that became 0% with X and Y. Pokemon dont get introduced mid-gen (not counting events as their data is already in the initial release, they arent really "new" Pokemon). Patterns break, this is the first Gen with no legendary trio (outside the box trio) and no 100 stat mythical.

-1
Rhotick1•

I think it's funny that you wrote

Pokemon dont get introduced mid-gen

then followed it up with

Patterns break

...and failed to see the irony.

1
papa_smurphy•

There's a difference between patterns regarding types and categories of Pokemon and the method of coding Pokemon into a gen. Although I suppose that is ironic, its no less correct.

3

From the silhouette it looks like a feminine Pokemon with a dress and bunny ears?

3
LumbotOPlemme borrow zekrom pls•

May very well be. The arm and leg proportions just kinda seem the width of something like a flower stem or something a bug would have. The ears and dress also give me an upside down flower vibe.

2
JSRen•

A fusion between Gardevoir, Lopunny and Florges?

1
LumbotOPlemme borrow zekrom pls•

In a sense, yea. Those seem to be the charcteristics most people base ideas on.

1
Wav_Glish•

And lilligant

2
Fudgenuggets980825•

So... we Gen 7 yet or nah? Or are we finally getting Z?

2
JSRen•

Im hoping its an expansion of 6th gen and discovery of alot more new Pokemon from the Kalos region.

3
papa_smurphy•

This was never going to happen, and wont happen. Its just the first Gen VII pokemon, like Marill, Snubull, Togepi, Wynaut, Munchlax, Bonsly, Mime Jr, Zorua, and Zoroark before this. With the exception of Gen V to VI, every generation has had at least one new Pokemon revealed before the games announcement.

-4
JSRen•

Because you know, its impossible to change things up and try new things. Z hasent even been announced yet.

3
papa_smurphy•

I'm not saying its impossible to try new things. I'm saying its impossible to do this specific thing. Generations dont have brand-new Pokemon introduced in them. New Pokemon means new Gen.

-2
LumbotOPlemme borrow zekrom pls•

Hard to say. As of yet nobody has their hands on a copy we know of . And I am assuming that while this news may "change the world", the apparent cover wording suggest we still may not get your question answered.

2
papa_smurphy•

We are almost definitely getting Z. This Pokemon will not be in it. Gen VII next year.

0
JSRen•

Thats stupid and makes no sense. They wont show off a new Pokemon and then a new game and then say you cant get it.

1
ar4757Squirtle Squad•

They've shown off new gen Pokémon a considerable amount of times. Munchlax before Emerald came out, for example. They don't need to say "This Pokémon is from Generation 7" in CoroCoro

3
papa_smurphy•

This has happened before. Munchlax was revealed before Emerald, and it was even in XD, but not obtainable. Same with Bonsly, and both were in the anime as well. Zoroark was revealed early, Togepi was in the anime very early before Gen 2. This happens almost every Gen, its not a new idea.

1
calgilTochee•

If Z comes out this year no way Gen 7 will be 2017. I mean if Z is even going to happen this year, they're leaving the announcement a bit late.

1
papa_smurphy•

Not really. They could announce it on the 27th and release it in July or August. That gives plenty of cooldown time between release and announcing the next gen. And its not like new gens havent come out the year after before. Gen VII is definitely coming 2017, especially if they are gonna reveal this new Pokemon now.

1
SlothBirdBeard•

Perhaps it's the Bug/Fairy type that Vivillon never was?

I'm siding with the theory that 'Z' will be an expansion on Gen VI, with -maybe- 30 new mons and 10 new megas, and a Southern Kalos region where Volcanion may be found.

This is all out of hope rather than expectation, however.

2
Axe13•

I think a region expansion would be a good option. The southern Kalos region would be the Pyrenees (where the newspaper editor went to find Volcanion), and maybe some of northern Spain. It would also help as a way to introduce new pokemon to the generation.

3
papa_smurphy•

No. Never. Cant add new Pokemon mid-gen. The lack of "new Pokemon" isn't really there when you consider every mega takes almost just as much time and effort.

-2
SlothBirdBeard•

I understand your point, I imagine it takes a great amount of effort for new megas and mons alike, and that's why I estimated reasonably low numbers for new additions. I've seen some crazy expectations of players wanting the 150 'quota' for the gen and that just isn't possible in the time frame that these same people expect a release.

I just think the idea of introducing mons mid-gen is interesting.

1
papa_smurphy•

Interesting as if may be, its not gonna happen. I'd bet money on that. Any Pokemon past #721 will be Gen VII. The sooner people learn to accept this and stop being so damn selfish, the sooner people might accept Gen Vi for what it is and maybe like it more.

-1
SlothBirdBeard•

I never understood the dislike for Gen IV, IMO it's 2nd to Gen I and X&Y were fantastic games. Often the reasons are 'not enough new Pokemon', but I feel it was (for the most part) a strong roster. Quality over quantity and all that.

Also FYI I didn't downvote your previous comment.

1
EpsilonQC•

Here's the full picture , without the silhouette : http://i.4cdn.org/vp/1455110503673.jpg , seems like Satoshi still has the same Kalos cloth , is it Pokemon Z confirmed ?

2
J0K3Rproducts•

Calling it now- it's got the look of a Pokeball that's "folded out" into a creature. I think it'll somehow be linked to the ability to capture pokemon / the creation of pokeball technology.

2
fujiorangeisjade•

Yeah I can't seem to see anyone else mentioning that.

1
Tuoko•

I'm excited for this new Pokemon. Generation 6.5 perhaps? It's probably our game changer for the series.

1
lumineonwho•

From the silhouette my guess would be that's it's based on one of these.

Edit: Nope. Totally wrong. It's actually the lovechild of Klink and Diancie. Okay then. Looks like we've got Gen VII's answer to Lucario and Zoroark.

1
GhostzzLaxus Dreyar•

Pokemon Z! "It's been 3000 years!" :')

-2

And to all those expecting Pokemon Z:
plays Dogsong Geeeeeeeeet Dunked On!
This is the nail in Pokemon Z's coffin.

0
papa_smurphy•

Not in the slightest. Almost every Gen we see a next-gen pokemon early. Togepi, Marill, Snubull, Wynaut, Munchlax, Bonsly, Mime Jr, Manaphy, Lucario, Zorua, Zoroark, and now Magiana.

1
papa_smurphy•

Its not premature at all. This isnt the first time we've seen a new gen Pokemon before the last game in the current gen. Z is still gonna happen this year, with Gen VII coming next year most likely.

-4
LumbotOPlemme borrow zekrom pls•

It absolutely is the first time a pokemon has been revealed before the final main release of a gen save for ho-oh and I hardly call that an announcement. Further more, the concerning bit is that this is either something tacked to 6 or a 7 and if its a 7 then they are announcing the next gen before announcing Z.

1
papa_smurphy•

Munchlax was revealed before Emerald released.

1
LumbotOPlemme borrow zekrom pls•

My bad. I had the date for the name Munchlax, a month after Emerald released and the reveal date confused.
