Lukewarm
lukewarm? i shall
spit you out.
are you, Luke, warm?
(my stitches swarm
your body like red ants,
a stinging miasma of itchy wool.)
i’ll spit you out, your name
like apple seeds beneath
my tongue, my ruined teeth.
(here poison lurks
below sweet pale flesh and
even Eve gets lonely of an evening.)
your lukewarm eyes spit out
an oily half-formed gaze congealing
on the floor where my
hand-knitted blanket lies
untouched, waiting
to warm Luke’s eyes.
