[Suggestion] If the ledger is unlocked in multiplayer you should be able to see the amount of enemy troops in the warscreen.

If the ledger is unlocked in multiplayer you should be able to see the amount of enemy troops in the warscreen. Because the information is availeble in the ledger. It could also be a separate option at the mp setup.

It's a bit silly for it to be hidden. Make it an option in MP maybe yeah.

Yes, please. I'm tired of getting into wars in mp and being like "oh, let's see whose side has more troops... oh." it's so idiotic that we can't see it from the warscreen

I agree but I find it worse that you have ready access to so many vital pieces of information that probably wasn't actually known in real life through the ledger - from income to army size. EU4 needs to put this information behind an espionage action lock and improve on the available espionage actions with a new DLC... and then if you set, for instance, one of your spies (not sure they should share the same pool as diplomats, either) to X country's army you could not only get their numbers but depending on how successful you are, where they are going, planned route, etc.

The thing is, you are a god, not a ruler o just a country. The game is based so that you have to know all this info to make good choices, yeah, they could make it so only with spies you could know the number of troops, but it doesn't really make sense. If you wanna go with real life, a big empire would be imposible to sustain, armys wouldn't move so easily, there wouldn't be monarch points, etc.

You are essentially a god, but your power seems to be generally confined to one nation. That being said, this choice is mostly for game play purposes though and the question should be less, "Does your deity status in EU's hypothetical universe will allow you these powers?", and more, "Does giving the player this information make the game more fun?" I think it doesn't, and don't really care about the "reality" of it.

*To add to this I like harlequinix's idea of using espionage as a way to gain assess ledger info. Buffs currently under powered systems, but allows the average players current status quo to continue with some sacrifice.

I disagree with this, and since we have fundamentally different opinions there's nowhere to go from here. If I'm the Archduke of Austria, I don't think I should know to the digit how much infantry the Ottoman Empire has or how much money the Ming Empire, with which I barely have contact, makes. I don't think I'm a god, and I'm rather sure that the devs didn't design the game with that in mind either.

But you are not the archduke of Austria, that would mean you would lose when he dies, or you couldn't play when you have a regency. On top of the fact that the archduke does not control every army individually.

You're picking at straws here. EU 4 is a game where you play a nation, I'm sorry if what I said gave you a different opinion.

Why not just a free update?

Because that's hoping too much for what needs to be a complete overhaul of the espionage system, I guess. But idk, I don't make PDXs money-calls.

read the latest dev diary, they are doing a espionage overhaul in the next dlc.

I'd like to think most rulers in the middle ages were actually aware of how big each others' armies were. It would be tedious to have to send spies everywhere to get their ledger information. Lots of the information didn't even require spies, it was already traveling through trade, word of mouth, etc. I prefer the process being abstracted and being left to the player's imagination.

How much do you guys use the ledger for this information? I have about 500hrs at this point, but I have never used the ledger. Seems like a form of cheating from my perspective, almost like wall hacking. Why would I just know how much money and troops my enemy has? Even if I am some omnipresent ruling entity for my nation, why do I get to see everyone else's stuff? More interesting I think to have to make a judgement based on what you suspect their potential is anyway.
