[Update] Nmom's really jumped off the deep end now

[Update]

Well, on V-day I contacted my Nmom, because my brother died, my dad's trying to pick out a headstone, and for some reason he really wants her approval of it. We don't need her approval because my dad owns the plot, but he feels really guilty about not including her (and he keeps going back and forth about letting her have any input). So at my Dad's behest, I sent my Nmom a facebook message with some pictures of stuff we were thinking of.

Naturally, she wants something massive with angels. Despite the fact that my brother is an atheist, and his grave is a single, so we're somewhat limited in size. When I asked her why she was so hell-bent on having angels, we had this lovely conversation:

Me: Why do you think an angel is appropriate?
Nmom: Because. ten minute pause The Angels carried him away before he felt anything.
Me: you do realize that there's nothing in Christian theology to suggest that.... but, I mean, your opinions are important
Nmom: That's what happened. Everyone has two guardian angels.
Me: Mom, your beliefs are important to us and I'm sure that [dead brother] would want you to feel comforted in any way that you can
Nmom: I'm his mom and I know that to be true. No matter what any one thinks. Thank you.
Me: If that helps you, that's fine
Nmom: Plus Aunt [nmom's sister in law that my brother barely knew] had a vision, that wouldn't go away until she told me what she saw.
Me: that's interesting
Nmom: For 2 weeks 3-4 times a day [dead brother] sent her that vision of him floating out of the car. His head and shoulders right through the roof. She isn't a nutcase. As soon as she told me she didn't get it anymore. Ask her. She didn't want to tell me but it wouldn't stop.
Me: .......................... abrubtly changes the subject because HOW ON EARTH DO YOU RESPOND TO THAT

So yeah. I'm just gonna put that here. She knows I'm not a Christian, that my brother's not a Christian. My brother barely knew the "aunt", it makes no sense for him to send her a "vision", and EVEN IF HE DID, I fail to see how that proves that angels are real or that my brother wants an angel on his headstone. Most likely my Nmom is making it up because she knows I can't contact that aunt and for some reason she thinks I might actually believe that insane bs. Or maybe she actually believes it. Who knows.

The conversation ended with her proposing more and more ridiculous grave markers until this happened:

Me: I think we should try to pick something [dead brother] would want, or at least something that represents him accurately
Nmom: I agree. St. Francis. posts pictures of St Francis statues
Me: No.
Nmom: I will make the decision on it.
Me: No, you won't. Mom, you need help, and I hope you get it. Now, if you're going to be reasonable, I'm more than happy to continue going over options with you. There are a lot of decisions that need to be made and we do appreciate your input, even if you don't appreciate anybody else's feelings or opinions, including my brother's. We are trying to respect and honor him, and you need to do the same. Do you think you can do that?

And four days later, she still hasn't responded. Yesterday she sent my dad a picture of a headstone that was much more reasonable. Though I showed Dad the conversation, and he seems set on not including her in the decision making process any more. Hopefully this is the last time I have to contact her, and now I can never speak to her again.
