Phonebanking (mis)information - PLEASE READ!
This is a post that I feel is necessary after reading recent threads in this sub. There were so many posts about people saying they're not phonebanking because they won't know what to say, or because they don't want to confront strangers about Bernie on the phone. If this is you, PLEASE CONTINUE READING!
After starting phonebanking myself, I realized I had a huge misconception about what it was. I thought I would be convincing people about Sanders on the phone, and I didn't know what phonebanking actually was. After reading some recent threads, I realize that a large number of people on this sub who haven't done it before have no idea what phonebanking actually is. They think they're going to be calling someone during dinner and arguing with them about Bernie. THIS IS NOT WHAT PHONEBANKING IS! Phonebanking is about getting voter information to the people in the campaign on the ground.
You literally call, read from a short script, click a few buttons, and you're done! Next call! It's so easy!
I know there is a ton of info about how to phonebank all over the sub, but when I was starting, I had a hard time finding information about what phonebanking actually was. That's why I'm making this thread. If you've never phonebanked, look into it. It is SO MUCH EASIER than you think. Not only that, but IT IS VITAL. It sounds intimidating, and that is what made me hesitant to start in the first place. Once I found out what it was, it made it a no-brainer to start.
If you are one of those who does phonebanking, please share your stories with how easy it actually is. If you've never done it, I challenge you - for the sake of everyone - join and phonebank at least once! Start with just one call! You can do it!
