I. Biography

Tomi Shishido hates life. He was born a mutant genius and quickly proved himself to be immensely gifted, but he never forgave God for the creation of existence. By the time he was six, Tomi had already tried to commit suicide twice. However, his efforts soon turned outward; he murdered his family and formed the Dawn of the White Light, a mutant death cult and terrorist group.

Still, not satisfied, The Gorgon sought out the Hand and sacrificed himself to prove his dedication to its cause. The Hand used its magics to resurrect The Gorgon and he soon took a leading role in global terror. As the leader of the Hand and Hydra, he has led significant attacks on the superhero community and governments in his continued efforts to wipe out life. Some of his more notable moments have included: brainwashing Wolverine to kill hundreds of people, including heroes; nearly dismantling Shield; killing Phobos, the son of Ares; and awakening a tremendous dragon underneath Madripoor.

TL;DR

Gorgon is a nihilistic mutant zombie ninja (comics, gotta love 'em!)

Powers

• Superhuman physicals: strength, speed, reflexes, durability, healing, stamina

• Genius level intellect

• Telepathy

• Petrifying gaze

---

II. Strength

Gorgon, listed as having class 2-superhuman strength, which probably equates to 1 or 2 tons.

• Throws two men through closed doors

• Kicks a tree limb or trunk off the ground

• Kicks a superhuman into a pillar hard enough to crack it

• Picks up Wolverine with his sword and throws him into a wall

• Catches Elektra's strike and breaks the sword with his teeth

• Throws a sword hard enough to pin a man to a wall

• Throws Shang Chi several stories into the air

---

III. Speed

Gorgon is fast enough to easily evade bullets and toy with combatants like Wolverine and Elektra. (Note: some of Gorgon's speed may come from his ability to read his opponents' minds in combat)

• Kills guards so fast he leaves after-images

• Avoids gunfire, and blitzes an experienced member of the Howling Commandos

• Dodges and blocks gunfire from multiple Shield agents

• Toys with Elektra, easily evading her strikes

• Moves faster than Wolverine can comprehend

• Fury fires 3 bullets at Von Strucker but Gorgon slices them out of the air

• Blitzes Shang-Chi

• A hero with [moderate to high super speed] [attacks Gorgon], but he cuts her out of the air

Gorgon is not impossible to hit though.

• Shang-Chi lands [several] [strikes]

• Wolverine also is able to hit Gorgon during a prolonged fight

---

IV. Damage Resistance/Healing

While not expressly explained, Gorgon can withstand fatal injuries with no major consequences. It's possible that he has this ability as the result of his resurrection.

• Stabbed multiple times by Wolverine and Elektra, but he continues fighting

• Falls a significant height with no consequences

• His apartment is hit with a missile but he seems fine

• Takes a hit from a powerhouse but continues fighting

• Takes a powerful hit from Daisy Johnson but is on his feet again shortly

• As seen above, Shang-Chi uses amplifying weapons and [lands] [several] [powerful] [blows], but the attack leaves Gorgon smiling

---

V. Telepathy

Gorgon has low level telepathy and can read the minds of those close to him.

• Reads Elektra's mind

• Has a telepathic conversation with Norman Osborne

• Wolverine states Gorgon can predict moves in combat

• Seems to telepathically attack Wolverine

• Possibly because of his nihilistic, undead nature, Gorgon might have some resistance to mind affecting powers, such as telepathy and Phobos' fear inducing powers

Gorgon's powers don't always seem to work however.

• Gorgon warns his companions to guard their minds implying his telepathy can be resisted

• Either is unable, or unwilling to read the mind of a possible traitor

---

VI. Petrifying Gaze

Gorgon can use his gaze to turn people into stone. However, he often chooses to keep his power restrained behind special glasses or masks.

• Turns guards to stone

• Uses his vision in combat

• Jonin of the hand imply that he can turn other undead to stone

His vision does appear to have some limits

• Asks Elektra to close her eyes implying that it won't work unless Elektra is looking. Elektra also turns away and avoids the power

• Kraken's helmet blocks Gorgon's powers (Note: Kraken's helmet seems to have an unknown degree of power, possibly mystical in nature.)

• Doesn't work on the god Phobos

• His powers also worked on himself

---

VII. Skill and Intellect

Gorgon is a genius and highly skilled at fighting.

• While blindfolded, Gorgon kills an entire group of Hand ninja

• Easily dismantles Elektra in a fight

• As seen above, he beats Shang-Chi

• By the age of 13, Tomi had become one of the best painters and composers in Japan. He also devised a mathematical formula that proved the existence of God.

• Demonstrates some mystic ability or knowledge to awaken an ancient dragon

• Possessed Godkiller one part of a pair of magical swords; when he killed Phobos, he replaced his broken sword with Grasscutter, the other sword
