Question about specials/extra

Hey, Im super new to this game, Im like around level 30 and I have a question for the extra/special stages, what pokemon and pokemon level do I have to have in order to do those special stages? What normal level should I reach before trying? Also if you can link me any "beginner guide" for the game would be great! Thanks
