Optical Drive

Got a build suggestion from a professional dude but it's hard to find the optical drive on the list (if anyone's wondering, it's a Asus 24X Dual-Layer, S-ATA), so does it really matter what optical drive I choose, shouldn't pretty much every optical drive have the same compatibility?
