Advice with being charged for possession..
Before you go off calling me an idiot, I understand it but the situation I was put in kinda gave me no choice.
Btw, I live in CT where weed is decriminalized, but not legal still. (thanks Malloy)
I was rolling around with my friends last night and we'd smoked a blunt shortly before he got pulled over. (The reason he got pulled over was because his muffler was hanging by a thread and he chose not to do anything about it cause he's always at college... That's a different kind of dumb teenager thing but anyways,) the cop came up to the window, immediately smelled weed and called the driver out by asking if he was smoking or not that night. The driver definitely didn't want to sell me out or anything, so he didn't reply.
Eventually the officer figured it out that my friend was lying about having weed in the car, so he threatened a dui unless whoever had it gave it up. My mindset at this point was "I have >2 grams left, he'll just make me throw it away or something and let me off with a warning like cops in this state always do" (it's happened a few times before over the course of a few years but the cops are always generally really carefree about it. )
Long story short, I just got a 300$ ticket. 150$ charge for the pot, 150$ for "possible parrapnalia" which was a game green cigarillo which wasn't cut open or anything.
I'm old enough to be able to pay all this off myself and not have parents or anything have to deal with it which is a huge plus for me, but the MAJOR thing I'm worried about is how I can play this off so it won't show up on a permanent record. I don't want my future employers to look back at my shit like this and not hire me because I had a little ass dub on me 😭 I tried calling a lawyer to see his opinion on it and they're gonna call me back tomorrow.
Has anyone else been in this kind of situation? What did you do?
