[RANT] My grandpa is trying to pull some ultimatum bs
Alright, here we go. Of all the people I thought I would get trouble from, I did not think it would be my grandpa (maternal).
For some background info: my family is not close-knit. At all. And we are not terrible social, so our guest count is at 80, and it took giving everyone a +1 just to get there. This is not a large wedding. We are having an "adult only" ceremony and reception. FH has a ton of younger second cousins and we just don't want to deal with it.
So I have an aunt (D) and uncle (L) that I'm not particularly close with, but they were invited out of courtesy. They have 2 kids, 10 and 12, that are not invited. I think I may have met them once, but I don't know them, they don't know me, they weren't on the invite. My grandfather lives with D & L. D & L don't have anyone that can watch the kids. Fine, ok, then they don't go. Happens all the time. Now my grandfather is saying that if D, L and their 2 kids don't go, he won't go. I had figured D & L wouldn't be able to make it due to their kids, but thought Grandpa would come anyway. No. Apparently, he feels they're being "slighted" and won't come unless the kids can come.
My Dad is saying my options are either let the kids come, and everyone comes, or no one comes. I know it's petty and low but I'm just so damn frustrated that I'm at the point of saying "fuck it, none of you all come, I don't care." I'm not close with D & L and I'm upset that my Grandfather is pulling this shit.
UGH. I don't want to give in to their demands. This is my wedding, dammit!
EDIT: Should have clarified... D & L live 4 hours away. They would be driving down and staying the night.
