FE Players

Just wondering what Final edition players are based off of and who in the past has gotten them. Specifically for players like a Jordy Nelson or Kelvin Benjamin this year who missed the entire season. Do players that were injured ever get a FE card or is it based on what was accomplished this past season? Haven't seen anyone mention anything about this, I know that nobody knows who the Final edition players will be but in the past has there been players who missed the entire season get one of these cards?

Thanks
