Were Islamic Terrorists in the American-Philippine War really executed with pigs?

So I saw a news article about Donald Trump talking about how General Pershing supposedly executed Muslims with 'bullets dipped in pigs blood' or being buried with pigs. Was this just standard Trump fare or did this actually happen in the war, and if it did, what were its results?
