Rear Cannon on the Lambda?

I remember playing SWG, loving the space combat, but being ripped to shreds by the Lambda because of its rear facing cannon.

One of the veteran players I played against explained that since it was an early ship, and balance was a concern, that they never added it for fear of unbalanced gameplay. Now it's considered one of the worst ships to choose from.

Do you think they will ever buff the Lambda? What are some reasonable changes you would make to help the Lambda seem more viable?
