Looking into online tech school: Advice?

So I've been tossing around the idea of becoming a tech for years now, and I've finally resolved to do it in the summer or fall. I've been working client services in an emergency and specialty hospital for about a month and a half now, and I've discussed the idea with my hospital manager, and she's assured me that the hospital is more than willing to help teach me, give me hands on experience and keep an eye out for open positions within the hospital for me to fill as I'm gaining more experience. I'm going to take an online program, because I need to work full time in order to keep my apartment, car, pets, etc., so I'd been looking at Penn Foster, but after seeing some negative reviews I've looked at San Juan as well.

Currently, I'm leaning more towards Penn Foster. An assistant at my hospital is actually almost done with their program, it seems to be more flexible in terms of time, and it seems more affordable. The one main issue that I personally have with Penn Foster's program is the lack of exotic animal courses. I hope to end up working in a hospital that treats avian and exotic pets, as well as cats and dogs. (I'm a bird person. Lol)

Does anyone have any advice about attending an online program, working full time while attending, or how to get the most out of my education? Also, does anyone have any information on online exotic or avian courses I could take, to supplement my education?

Thanks for your help, guys, and wish me luck!
