WHO will spill the beans?
When KZ's new evidence is revealed and it becomes obvious that the truth IS going to come out, and that it WILL be known to millions internationally, I predict SOMEBODY will crack and confess to being involved with helping to falsify evidence.
He/she will likely claim that he was just following orders and/or was threatened and/or suddenly remembered new details. Some perceived benefits to confessing (coerced) involvement might be:
- IMMUNITY - Get ahead of the game by making a deal to help free SA & BD and prosecute the main conspirator(s).
- SAFETY - Perpetrators & planters weren't expecting their sloppy & selective investigating to be known worldwide & dissected by millions, and are likely already nervous about being outed. Anyone who "knows too much" (and his family) might be in danger of dying in "a freak accident" or "sudden heart attack".
- MONEY - The media would pay big bucks to interview a confessor and he'd have his choice of lucrative book deals.
- REPUTATION & SYMPATHY - Any employee of Manitowoc or Calumet Counties with connections to this case is already deemed suspicious by the public & has iffy future prospects. By being THE ONE with a conscience who is responsible for cracking the case and freeing 2 innocent men (and exposing guilty ones), a remorseful confessor would get a chance to fully tell his side of the story instead of being outed or framed by somebody else, and (with the way social media works), be considered a "hero" for "risking his livelihood/safety/reputation/future to make things right."
IF you agree, WHO do you think would be the MOST LIKELY to crack FIRST and tell all? WHO would follow? WHOSE CONFESSION would be the MOST HELPFUL to prosecutors of a police/prosecutorial/judicial corruption case?
