Survival - Dew Collector window won't stay open?

So I just crafted a DC but each time I try to press "E" to open it up, it will open for half a second then close by itself. I don't even have enough time to throw a bottle in there before it closes. Does anyone know a fix for this? I tried logging completely out of the game, shutting the game down, etc but no success.
