Photo Sharpness.. Z3 compact

Just out of interest before I look into selling my z3, how many of you with this device can confidently get a sharp crisp picture of what your aiming at?

My lens is clean, my hands are mostly stable often I'll use wasps etc to stabilise my darker shots but only every 1/10 shots has anything I would call focused and sharp in shot. I've had the phone since launch and taken more photos than average I'd guess but only a handful have ever been sharp. The common factor gas been extreme sunlight and using manual controls.

I've accepted this but recently due to the headphones socket breaking again I've bought a £100 windows lumia 830 phone, side by side the Sony takes disappointing photos, colours are muted, objects are often hazy never sharp and focus always seems slightly off, while the windows phone despite being slower, smaller mp gives more rewarding photos.

This isn't placebo for me, do I have a dud phone or is anyone else having this issue? I'm gonna wait for the next compact phone before I abandon ship..
