Finding Childcare may be the death of me.
So, I got a full-time job. YAY! It's a big girl job and I'm going to be making more than my husband and I currently make combined.
However, now I need childcare 3 days a week. And I need it quick. I honestly didn't expect to get a job so quickly since the market in my town for my field is basically shit, but I really lucked out and I start in 2 weeks.
I need care Mon-Wed all day for my 8-month old Baby Bear. I have exhausted care.com, sittercity.com, and friends and family. Basically at this point, I have discovered a few things. If want someplace affordable, I'll be sacrificing her safety and well-being. If I want someplace safe, I'll be paying more than my monthly mortgage payment. And the places that seem "too good to be true" (in home daycare, $30 a day... ends up she has 4 kids of her own under the age of 4, is already babysitting a 4 month old and will be getting a 2 month old in April. Also sometimes leaves kids alone with her husband to "run errands.") probably are.
The only success I've had at this point is finding a fool-proof way to give myself a migraine. THIS IS INFURIATING!!! How do these places expect a working mother to freaking survive. Either I keep the job I have and can't pay our bills or I take this new job and be basically making the SAME EXACT AMOUNT because I'll be paying so damn much for part-time childcare! I HATE THIS SO MUCH!!!
Any suggestions for decent childcare on the north side of Indianapolis???
